Newborn Fitted Cloth Diaper
Now that I am no longer on bed rest, I've been trying to sew my baby's diapers. I'm addicted to itty-bitty cuteness!! I've named this diaper "fresh" because I feel the lure of Spring on its way and so soon we move to our new home to start fresh. I love how bright it is!!

The countdown to the move is on!
Having two kids hasn't been as detrimental to my sewing time as trying to finish packing up the contents of our house to move. We've only been in this house for a little over two years and it's been one of the most trying times emotionally. We were hit with so many hidden defects and forked over so much more money than we had ever anticipated. The decision to sell, take a terrible financial hit, and start over again was a hard but gratifying one because in just under two weeks, we'll be in our new home!
I haven't sewn any pads, nor will I before the move to be honest. I haven't boxed up the sewing room yet though (I can't bring myself to do it!) but I've started sorting out my fabric and notions. Last night and this morning I did sew the baby a new fitted cloth diaper - a newborn fattycakes. It looks wonky, but fits great on my lil' chubbs! It's a boutique knit outer, full body hidden of heavyweight bamboo fleece, and an inner of pink bamboo velour. There's a lay in doubler made from 2 layers of hemp fleece wrapped in 2 layers of bamboo velour. That should hold my heavy wetter!!
Don't forget, I am an approved Fattycakes seamstress! :)

Free Cloth Diaper Pattern: The Preemie Quick Snap Flap Wrap (pQSFW)
The main patterns (QSFW & SWQSFW) are originally designed by YellowHibiscus from DiaperSewingDivas (DSD). The newborn size was too big for my wee one and so I modified it to create a "preemie" size. The pattern offered here is ONLY the preemie size and will fit babies about 4lbs to 7.5lbs.
Any absorbent fabrics can be used, but the pattern fits best made with 2 layers of knits: jersey/interlock/fleece/etc made from cotton/bamboo/hemp. The pattern is a half, designed to work on a fold. Cut out two layers. Serge. It only takes 10 minutes!! You can use a snappi, pins, hook & loop, or snaps. Placement of these are at your own discretion. Elastic helps ensure a snug fit, but is not necessary. Email me (via my profile page) with any questions or comments.
Download pQSFW here! (via MediaFire)
For more complete instructions, join DSD and visit this thread.
With permission from YellowHibiscus, I am offering it here free of charge for both personal and commercial use. If you sell from this pattern, simply label it as a "pQSFW" and link to this page. Thanks and enjoy! For other patterns and tutorials, please visit the Patterns and Tutorials page!! Happy sewing!!

We're Moving!
We're picking up and moving to a new home sooner than we were supposed to! Originally our moving date was set for March but as luck would have it, we can now move in February! W00t!! This is rather last minute as we only found out this week leaving us 3 weeks until the big day. And we've only just begun to pack! We know we should have already been packing as the move was coming anyway, but all the hoopla with my being on bed rest for my pregnancy and then the baby moon we're just now coming out of, well, it left packing on the back burner. So now we're in full packing mode!
I'm going to hold off putting away the sewing room as it's my most cherished outlet. I sew when I'm stressed, or tired, or in need of inspiration in some form or another. And since I haven't sewn much of anything in the last few months, well, I'm not ready to give that up yet. ;)
